DESCRIPTION
JW is about twenty feet long from the top of his head to the tip of his tail. His skin is purple with green accent patterns. He's got a light tan underbelly. Sometimes I color his hair green and sometimes I color it blonde. I always forget which one I decided on, but it doesn't really matter. He's got yellow eyes and little lines of heat pits under them.

SETTINGS

GAME EVENT AU - Some games don't need much of a reason for shapeshifting events to occur. I've been in a few! Want to work off of established CR? Just assume some temporary bullshit is happening in a game we're already both in! JW is a snek now. Maybe your character is un-changed or maybe they're something else entirely! Up to you.

CANON AU - In his canon, JW has learned to move between worlds. What does he do with this knowledge? He steals shit and then sells it back on earth to antique dealers. Well this time he's gotten ahold of a cursed bangle in the shape of The Ouroboros. It constricted to his wrist and changed his body. Now he's freaked out and acting carelessly and somehow wound up dumping his ass into YOUR character's world.

He jumped a second time--his mismatched eyes moving beyond Naga's head. A girl! A girl with two eyes, two legs and other assorted parts. She didn't look very interested in eating him alive. But she did look ready to kick his ass.

It was a strange an conveniant multi-verse he lived in. Much like Star Trek, no wonder where the little waffle-iron shaped space ship went, everybody always spoke English.

JW slowly, very slowly began to inchworm his way over top of the rock so that he could feel just a little taller. He didn't have fantastic control of his coils yet. "Yes. Look, I'm not lookin' for any trouble..."

"Hey, calm down, there's no trouble. Not unless you start making any."

Korra slipped down off of Naga, patting the polar bear dog affectionately as she came to stand between the snake man and animal.

"I'm Korra. I'm the Avatar, I'm here to help."

With whatever it was that had him so distressed.

"The Avatar..."

He didn't have a clue what that meant, but it sounded important. After a few more feet of his coils were atop the rock, JW straightened himself up. He looked for all the world like the caterpillar from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

"You can help me by getting rid of that." He pointed at poor Naga.

"She's with me. Her name's Naga. She's not going to hurt you, she's my polar bear dog."

Said polar bear dog whined pathetically and cocked her head at the accusing snake man.

Korra folded her arms and stood beside her furry friend, not about to budge on the point. She didn't know anything about snake men. Who knew what kind of crazy bending powers they had? And she was sure they did.

Why was he scared of Naga anyway, he was a giant snake man. She was pretty sure snakes were like the only animals that were actually a threat to a polar bear dog.

Well, he had to admit that Naga sure did look like exactly that. He let his eyes linger on her for a moment longer before remembering himself and tucking his hands into opposite sleeves, hiding the bangle away least she wanted it for herself. He didn't trust a stranger not to just lop his hand off and be done with it.

But now he had to play his cards right. Was this her property? He hadn't been here very long. Wherever here was. And he wasn't sure just how much he should pretend to know exactly what's going on. There was the teenist, tiniest sliver of hope that this strange important-sounding girl and her giant marshmallow could help him.

Now if only his personality wouldn't get in the way.

"So, what do you want, Avatar? I'm very busy."

"....also pretty sure you're not supposed to be here."

Not that spirits couldn't enjoy the human world, but right now was a really bad time for an unanticipated factor in the Earth Kingdom. Everything had been going so smoothly. Who even was in charge of this area now? Was it Fen Guo? Korra was pretty sure Feng Guo had ended up in charge of this state. There had been a lot of Earth Kingdom to divide up.

"I don't know if you pay any attention to what goes on over here, but...there was a huge war right in this kingdom. The one that messed with the spirit world, actually. We're in the middle of reformation."

And there was still a lot of weird ideas about spirits and spirit energy, after what Kuvira had done.

JW grew very still when Korra started to explain. War was probably his least favorite thing, having grown up in the 60's in perpetual fear of all the stories his Grandfather told him of the draft. A war with spirits sounded even worse.

The snake-man tried to keep the worry from creeping across his face. It was becoming painfully obvious this wasn't just a 'weird guy in some lady's garden' scenario.

"Is--is that right? I guess I'll just...mosey along then?"

He tried to slither away as nonchalantly as possible but since he'd re-situated himself on the rock to better keep an eye on Naga, the weight of his coils wound up making him slip off his podium backwards. JW promptly landed in a heap of scales.

"That's some impressive moseying."

Korra hopped easily over to the rock he'd been recently occupying, to peer down at the toppled snake man. Weren't snakes supposed to be graceful and stuff?

"If you need help back to the Spirit World, I probably can get you there..."

Probably.

JW grunted and struggled to shove a length of his tail out of the way so that he could frown up at Korra. His purple scales hid how red his face would be turning otherwise and tongue flicked anxiously as he tried to untangle himself so that he could stand up as tall as he could and become imposing. He'd figured out that trick earlier when he had to scare off some raccoon moths who were trying to steal his tools.

"I can get there myself, thanks. Perhaps it's you who shouldn't be here."

"...I'm pretty sure there isn't anywhere I'm not supposed to be..."

Not in her world, anyway. Probably there were places in the Spirit World that were off limits to her, but here? Nope. None that she could think of.

She folded her arms and looked up at him, muscles tensing in anticipation of needing to bend.

"How about I give you an official escort?"

"Thanks but no thanks, I'll escort myself."

With that, he turned, nose in the air, and tried to 'mosey' off again, balling his hands into fists and pumping his arms. His bangle caught the sun. His exit was also not the swiftest because there was a lot of him.

Of course he would.

Korra rolled her eyes and watched the ridiculous spectacle of Snake Man attempting to flee. This was not at all what she'd been expecting when she came out in search of the source of the strange energy. Not that she'd known what to expect, but....

This sure wasn't it.

"Yeah, I'm gonna keep you company anyway. Or Naga could...."

The polar bear dog made a noise behind Korra, shifting her weight from paw to paw.

JW paused and glanced over his shoulder a second too soon because his very clear expression of SHET had not had time to completely change into one of grouchy disinterest.

"No. Thank you."

And then, suddenly, his instincts kicked in the face of doggy doom. He did NOT want any company from Naga! The muscles along the bottom of his body kicked into the proper rythem and took him darting into the forest.

Yeeeeeah. Something Wasn't Right about all of this. Korra stayed where she was, but dropped to a crouch to bend the earth on either side of the fleeing snake man, raising it up and bringing it to a point in a large bump in front of him. On either side of the intruder, the dirt and rock cracked and rose in a low ridge that extended out in front of him, like it was a race. The ridge was only about half a foot in height, but enough to give a snake a bit of trouble getting over quickly.

She'd tried just talking. Now it was time for some bending.

Some purely defensive bending to facilitate figuring out what the hell was going on here. For all she knew, this was the point guard of some Spirit World Snake Man invasion.

"I think we got off on the wrong foot," Korra called, cheerfully. "How about we try this again?"

At first, JW thought the rumbling was the sound of huge white paws chasing him down. Suddenly the earth heaved up before him and startled a strangled scream out of him. Oh no oh no she was MAGIC. He came to a tumbling halt and planted his hands against the ground. He'd never seen magic like this before!

A second instinct kicked in. JW balled himself up there on the little bender-made track and hid himself in his coils so that only a pair of irritated yellow eyes peering out were the only visible parts of his human half. The harmless tip on his tail shivered loudly in the underbrush in order to imitate a rattle.

DON'T TOUCH HIM, HE'S BIG.

"Would you calm down?"

Korra hopped up onto the edge of the track, hands on her hips. This was not going as she'd planned. Not at all. And she was starting to lose her patience.

"I already told you I'm here to help, why won't you let me help you? You obviously need it."

The snakeman's entire body puffed up with a loud hiss. HE'S SO BIG, KORRA, DON'T YOU SEE HOW BIG HE IS???

The reality of his situation was crushing down on him though. He couldn't keep pretending, especially not in the face of what appeared to be a small god and her horrible horrible bear dog. She could probably split the earth and crush him with a ravine! Or bring down a rock to--

His scaly brows rose and JW slowly lifted out of his ANGER BALL to sit against his coils.

"Actually..." He pushed up his sleeve to reveal the golden hoop that was hugged tight to his wrist. It was ornate and shaped like a snake biting its own tail. She was strong. Maybe even strong enough. "Can you break this?"

"That?"

Korra's eyebrows raised. It looked like a gold circle. Gold was metal...

"Probably. Why does it need to be broken?"

She's learned her lesson. Ask questions first, then destroy what she's been asked to destroy. In case it was full of dark spirits or angry magic or just exploded.

"I miss my legs," he said flatly and gave the very end of his tail an apathetic flop.

While it was possible to FIND the correct tree gate eventually as he was, it would be worlds easier finding it by walking. And sometimes things hid in the Ever Autumn and he did not want to be caught between worlds without his breeches.

"Soon as I get this thing off, I'll be outta your hair forever."

"Miss your....?" Korra blinked, pieces clicking into place. Her aggressive posture relaxed some.

"You're not even a spirit, are you?" More likely a human who had stolen something from spirits. No wonder he'd been so quick to try and get away from here.

At least this was starting to look like a problem she could fix.

He broke into a wide guilty grin and shrugged.

"Not technically?" He still didn't know what an Avatar was but he was pretty sure he wasn't one of those either. "I'm not from around here."

"You mean not when you aren't being cursed by what's probably a stolen sacred artifact of some kind?"

Korra was done trying to be tactful and coax information out of Mr. Sneaky Snake. She was calling it like she saw it.

At that, JW puffed himself up again, stretching up to do his best to tower over Korra.

"I didn't steal it! It's mine!"

Finders keepers, losers suck.

"Because lawfully owned magic bracelets are always locking themselves on their owners and cursing them."

Nope, she wasn't buying it. Especially with the protest. That was a whole lot of angry posturing for a simple 'it's mine'.

"Look lady--" JW paused for a moment, leaned just a little closer and squinted at her as if to affirm something. "Look lady, this is not the weirdest thing that's happened to me but this week it is by far the most inconveniant."
