DESCRIPTION
JW is about twenty feet long from the top of his head to the tip of his tail. His skin is purple with green accent patterns. He's got a light tan underbelly. Sometimes I color his hair green and sometimes I color it blonde. I always forget which one I decided on, but it doesn't really matter. He's got yellow eyes and little lines of heat pits under them.

SETTINGS

GAME EVENT AU - Some games don't need much of a reason for shapeshifting events to occur. I've been in a few! Want to work off of established CR? Just assume some temporary bullshit is happening in a game we're already both in! JW is a snek now. Maybe your character is un-changed or maybe they're something else entirely! Up to you.

CANON AU - In his canon, JW has learned to move between worlds. What does he do with this knowledge? He steals shit and then sells it back on earth to antique dealers. Well this time he's gotten ahold of a cursed bangle in the shape of The Ouroboros. It constricted to his wrist and changed his body. Now he's freaked out and acting carelessly and somehow wound up dumping his ass into YOUR character's world.

"Would you calm down?"

Korra hopped up onto the edge of the track, hands on her hips. This was not going as she'd planned. Not at all. And she was starting to lose her patience.

"I already told you I'm here to help, why won't you let me help you? You obviously need it."

The snakeman's entire body puffed up with a loud hiss. HE'S SO BIG, KORRA, DON'T YOU SEE HOW BIG HE IS???

The reality of his situation was crushing down on him though. He couldn't keep pretending, especially not in the face of what appeared to be a small god and her horrible horrible bear dog. She could probably split the earth and crush him with a ravine! Or bring down a rock to--

His scaly brows rose and JW slowly lifted out of his ANGER BALL to sit against his coils.

"Actually..." He pushed up his sleeve to reveal the golden hoop that was hugged tight to his wrist. It was ornate and shaped like a snake biting its own tail. She was strong. Maybe even strong enough. "Can you break this?"

"That?"

Korra's eyebrows raised. It looked like a gold circle. Gold was metal...

"Probably. Why does it need to be broken?"

She's learned her lesson. Ask questions first, then destroy what she's been asked to destroy. In case it was full of dark spirits or angry magic or just exploded.

"I miss my legs," he said flatly and gave the very end of his tail an apathetic flop.

While it was possible to FIND the correct tree gate eventually as he was, it would be worlds easier finding it by walking. And sometimes things hid in the Ever Autumn and he did not want to be caught between worlds without his breeches.

"Soon as I get this thing off, I'll be outta your hair forever."

"Miss your....?" Korra blinked, pieces clicking into place. Her aggressive posture relaxed some.

"You're not even a spirit, are you?" More likely a human who had stolen something from spirits. No wonder he'd been so quick to try and get away from here.

At least this was starting to look like a problem she could fix.

He broke into a wide guilty grin and shrugged.

"Not technically?" He still didn't know what an Avatar was but he was pretty sure he wasn't one of those either. "I'm not from around here."

"You mean not when you aren't being cursed by what's probably a stolen sacred artifact of some kind?"

Korra was done trying to be tactful and coax information out of Mr. Sneaky Snake. She was calling it like she saw it.

At that, JW puffed himself up again, stretching up to do his best to tower over Korra.

"I didn't steal it! It's mine!"

Finders keepers, losers suck.

"Because lawfully owned magic bracelets are always locking themselves on their owners and cursing them."

Nope, she wasn't buying it. Especially with the protest. That was a whole lot of angry posturing for a simple 'it's mine'.

"Look lady--" JW paused for a moment, leaned just a little closer and squinted at her as if to affirm something. "Look lady, this is not the weirdest thing that's happened to me but this week it is by far the most inconveniant."

"Korra. My name is Korra." She folded her arms and stood straight under the scrutiny. "And don't even talk to me about weird. My life was full of weird before I was even born. Now I'm starting to lose my patience with you, so here's what's going to happen."

Korra drew her shoulders back even more, staring up into Sneaky Snake's sour eyes.

"You're gonna tell me exactly what's going on, and if I can help you I will. Otherwise...I don't have time for this, you can think it all over in a cell somewhere. That's fine by me."

"A cell!" He bristled and opened his mouth to say the words, I'd like to see you try and catch me, because that had always worked. He'd always known the way to the Ever Autumn and he'd ran from people all his life. But those people hadn't been wizards. EARTH WIZARDS. JW shut his mouth so hard his fangs jabbed his lip.

The next words came slowly, each one like a pooled tooth. "I'm a treasure hunter. I found the thing. Put it on. And before you ask, it wasn't in no tomb! I watch movies! I know what happens to people that go into tombs!"

"Okay."

That was a relatively believable story. Korra considered for pressing as to just where he'd 'found' the bracelet, but she wasn't going to push her luck. She was finally sort of getting him to cooperate, but he clearly didn't want to.

Maybe she could wrap this up and get back home to Republic City within a couple of days.

"Just because something isn't in a tomb, that doesn't mean you can just take it, you know. Now let's have a look at it."

"If it's just laying in a ditch somewhere covered in mud, I'm pretty sure that means nobody wants it!"

JW crept forward on his coils and extended a bony arm. The bracelet was so tight on him that it couldn't even be turned. The snake's head rested atop his wrist and almost seemed to smile.

"Is it bad?"

"Let's see."

Korra held her hands over the bracelet, feeling for the metal and going through the motions to thin and stretch it....

And nothing happened. She frowned and tried again. Still nothing.

"...that's weird."

She could project herself as a glowing blue spirit giant, but she couldn't bend a little bit of metal? That was not cool.

That's weird.

The last thing you want to hear from the doctor or the magical girl who's decided to help you.

"What's weird?"

"Uh... hang on"

Korra wasn't exactly known for giving up easily. She set her feet widely apart, squared her shoulders, bent her knees, and put everything she had into it. She strained. She grunted. Her lips curled back in a very unattractive grimace. Sweat beaded on her brow.

And in the end, she slumped back in defeat, the bracelet unchanged.

"Normally I can manipulate metal," she mumbled, giving the gleaming bit of gold a nasty look. Stupid magic spirit relic.

As Korra exerted herself, JW's eyes grew wider and wider as he started to worry that he was about to watch her pop a vein. Luckily that didn't happen. Nothing happened. The snake man sagged back against his coils in defeat when Korra gave up.

"So you're some kinda rock and metal wizard..." JW decided to distract himself from his own troubles with being curious about Korra. She hadn't killed him yet so she'd won a few brownie points in the past five minutes.

"I'm the Avatar, I think I mentioned that." Korra wiped her hair out of her eyes and sighed. So no bending. Maybe if they could find out who the bracelet belonged to originally, they could find them and get it off.

Maybe.

This was turning into a much bigger issue than she'd anticipated.

"Guess we're gonna have to to take a trip to the Spirit World after all. You aren't scared of heights, are you?"

"Right, right, the Avatar," he nodded distractedly until she brought up an inevitable road trip. To the land of the DEAD. "Woah! Woah, back up! Spirit World? No thanks, me and ghosts don't really get along!"

Korra sighed heavily.

"The Spirit World. Where the spirits live. Most of the time. They're over here a lot, too, what with the portal and the spirit quarter in republic... and I mean, I guess a couple of people there sort of count as ghosts, but...they're just people. Who live in the Spirit World. And I'm pretty sure there are people who can help there."

Or at least be of more help than she can at the moment.

JW quietly mouthed the words 'spirit republic' in a stupor. He'd gotten himself into hot water, but this was by far the hottest. He was going to be boiled snake before he got out of this.

But these inter-dimensional ghosts could help. He looked down a this hand and rubbed his scaly wrist.

"Fine...what kind of payment will they want? I'm sure you've noticed, but I don't exactly have pockets."

"I'm the living embodiment of human and spirit unification and I've saved the universe like three times, I don't think you need to worry about a bill."

Tempting as it was to draw one up. What with her travel, time taken from border mapping, mental stress...

Airship fuel didn't grow on trees.

JW's brow ridges rose higher and higher until they'd disappeared under his bangs.

Holy cow this chick was important. And if people saw him hanging out with her...

Suddenly, the thin man's fanged grin grew wide. A little too wide. It was time to be Nice. "Lead the way, ma'am!"

...Right. Like that sudden shift in expression and body language wasn't suspicious. But whatever, he was cooperating. More or less.

"Come on." She turned and gestured for Sneaky Snake to go on ahead. Naga could lead. Korra would take up the rear. Just in case. She trusted this guy about....

No, that wasn't right. She could probably throw him further than she trusted him.

"We'll take my airship." The portal in Republic was probably the easiest way to take him to the Spirit World. Which could prove to be a terrible idea, but... she was pretty sure she could handle him. He couldn't even bend.
