"Good to hear. We'll see how long I can stay, but... I'll try and be around for a while." And probably hover anxiously around JW constantly during that time.
JW stood up slowly and gathered up his blankets so that they draped over his shoulders like a king's robes. He waved for Ginko to follow him as he padded across the hardwood in a wobbly line.
"Guestroom's just right over here." He opened the door by the bookshelf. Nothing was inside except a bed frame and a dresser. "Oh...right. We got rid of that mattress because it was possessed. Uhm." He coughed. "Upstairs has a bed but you have to be careful."
Ginko followed behind JW, keeping half his attention on his friend to make sure he didn't collapse or something. He peered into the guestroom before turning to JW again, raising an eyebrow slightly.
"Careful, how?" Careful as in structurally unstable frame or careful as in some kind of dangerous mushi or faerie or something living in the mattress? He had no idea.
He led Ginko up the stairs and kept his hand on the rail the whole time. The first door to the right of the landing was the bathroom but the door straight ahead was a guest room. The inside was bare save for the bed, mattress, sheets, and all.
However it was impossible to see underneath the bed because it was bricked up.
"It...it should be fine." He gave Ginko a strained grin. "You'll be fine!"
He didn't want to explain the whole interconnecting multiverse of Underbeds. What if Ginko decided that it was Not His Scene and split?
"It's a comfy bed!" JW pushed past Ginko and moved to the bed where he pressed down on it a few times, making the springs creak. "Only a little dusty." He waved the grey plumes away and coughed. "Make yourself at home!"
