WIN MY MUSE'S HEART IN 20 COMMENTS OR LESS

How to play:

Reply to one of my characters' headers (you don't have to respond to the flavortext) and put a 1 in your subject line! I'll reply with a 2 and so on. We'll count them down to 20. Then the date is over! Time to swap seats! Where is this date taking place? It doesn't really matter! This scenario is bendable to most game settings. AU's are also available, feel free to contact me or ask OOCly before we start counting down comments. Or it could just take place in the void or some Cosmic Denny's! The point of this meme is to test out chemistry or just watch hilarity unfold!

And who knows, you might get to go home with someone!

_{[Maurice is momentarily stunned because wait. WAIT. Pepper's a guy! He's pretty sure Pepper is a guy. The vampire frets but quickly forces a smile that looks more like a grimace. He can do this! It's not a big deal, right? He might even have fun...]}

Oh, I'm--I work in a garage and...turn into a bat sometimes. I really like your hair.

Oh? Ah...thank you.

[Pepper smiles slightly, bringing a hand up to briefly brush through the side of one of the red locks that's hanging in his eyes.]

I'm no stranger to magic, though...if I may assume you are a vampire by what you say, then I can't say I've ever met one before.

[The thought makes him a little nervous, actually...but Maurice seems nice enough.

...he didn't say he liked his hair because it was red, did he...?]

How d'you get it striped so evenly? You'd be right but-- I promise I don't bite.

_{[People he knows anyway. He's not totally comfortable with the having to pounce on strangers outside quick marts but...what can you do?]}

But, uh...congratulations on meeting your first vampire.

_{[He's already worrying about being a bad example.]}

Practice. I'm guilty of accidentally dying it entirely red several times over, but...that's a price I had to pay, I suppose.

[He won't mention the time it turned orange, either.]

I'm just a regular human, and I don't know how to practice magic like some...the only thing of note is that I am royalty.

[Pepper says that softly, not really trying to bring much attention to himself in admitting it, but it is true.]

Man, if I could pick, I think I'd wanna be a regular human again.

_{[But then Pepper drops the FAME BOMB or...more like gently places it on the table. No wonder he's dressed so fancy!]}

Oh, wow...I never met anybody royal before.

_{[TOO LATE, YOUR MAJESTY. He's already trying to behave himself better.]}

Well, now we've both met someone new today, haven't we?

[He says with a soft laugh, folding his hands in his lap.]

But I do more mundane things, beyond the expected...I practice archery and ride horses, when given the chance.

_{[This guy is SUPER ROYAL but...he's so nice! And talks like a regular person. If he hadn't revealed himself, Maurice would have gone on thinking he was just a weird LARP guy. He tugs at his shirt collar and focuses on the candles.]}

My parents have horses--two of 'em. But they're not really for riding anymore, they're just big pets. Do you go bow hunting? Or is it that other kind of archery?

I have two as well, Clydesdales. Their names are York and Patty.

[He shakes his head a little, one hand fussing with the cuff of one of his sleeves.]

Oh no, I don't hunt, really. I just practice on targets set up in the courtyard, generally. ...I was meant to learn how to wield a sword, but I'm not very good at it at all. It's more for ceremonial purposes, anyway.

Clydesdales! You mean the Budweiser horses? I've never seen one of those in person.

_{[He finally smiles a real smile at the thought. What neat names--and he does think the names go together. He hasn't even noticed Pepper's nameplate.]}

Swords, archery, horses, you're like, right out a fairytale or something--IN A GOOD WAY! I mean that in a good way!

_{[What nice hair tho.]}

[He nods slightly, his own smile widening.]

Thank you. It's interesting you would say that. I'm rather fond of fairytales myself.

Though, you wouldn't say the same about yourself?

[He is a vampire, after all. You don't really come across those all too often.]

Aaaah. Aaaahahah, no, not really. A campfire story, maybe. Or a B movie. Not much of a fairytale.

Well, you seem pretty interesting, all the same. ...Maurice, is it?

[He asks, tipping his head a little as he glances down at his name plate.]

OH-- uh. Yeah. And you're--

_{[Pepper. The nameplate says Pepper. Maurice stares at it long and hard before looking back up at the prince's streaked hair.]}

Oh my god.

[Pepper blinks.]

Ah...is something wrong?

Your name is Pepper...and you have horses named York and Patty.

_{[He says this slowly as he's piecing it together himself.]}

[...Ah. Pepper can't help but laugh, drawing a hand to his face as if he's embarrassed by Maurice's revelation.]

My favorite candy as a child was peppermints. I ate them so often that my Father gave me the nickname, Pepper. My real name is Peter.

_{[For a split second he's afraid he's said the wrong thing, but when Pepper laughs, Maurice can't help but join in.]}

Aw, no, don't tell me that! That ruins the whole illusion. Wow, that is some luck, huh?

Mhm! I'm a bit surprised they listed my name that way, though I do generally answer to either. I don't really mind.

Then I'm gonna call youuu...Dr. Pepper.

Oh...aw. Hey, nice meetin' you! Tell your horses hi for me?

[Dr. Pepper, huh? That's a new one, for sure. Not that he minds it terribly.]

I will. It was nice meeting you too, Maurice.
