[Once Henry remembers the rest of his vocabulary and stops sputtering, he pulls away with a goofy smile on his bark-covered face. Wow. That just happened. That was nice. His eyes find the floor but the smile stays. His tail twitches rapidly back and forth, coiling and uncoiling. It has no idea what to do.]
[Seeing the dumb smile on Henry's face because of something that he did makes an entirely different sort of pleased, warm feeling rise up in Envy's chest, one that really only ever happens around Henry. He doesn't really know how to put it into words, but...he likes it. It makes him want to make the same sort of stupid face. And he guesses that's why they're calling this dating.]
[His own tail is flipping from side to side, and then sweeps forward and around so that he can tap it against Henry's twitching one.]
[Oh. Oh, now it's a challenge. Envy's grin grows wider, and while his eyes close halfway flirtatiously, they're almost narrowed competitively too.]
Mmmhm. I sure could.
[This makes it a lot easier for him to reach his hands up to Henry's shoulders and pull himself up to the tips of his toes. He is, indeed, reaching for it.]
[Henry does not quite realize the depth of the trouble he has landed himself in when Envy throws his arms around his shoulders. He stands tall and sturdy, allowing Envy to pull himself up with ease.]
[Wow he was really gonna do it! Henry's not confident enough to tease him further. He just lets it happen.]
[Henry has never known another soul that would climb him for a kiss and that is kind of a really neat feeling.]
[Cats climb trees, that's just what they do. Especially this particular cat, right now.]
[Envy may not be at all confident in his ability to be romantic, but he is pretty damn confident about his kissing. That's not scary at all! He can do that!]
[This time, he doesn't pull back right away like he had with the peck before, letting it linger for a good long moment. And when he does pull back, he doesn't climb back down right away either, just stays up there looking supremely pleased with himself.]
[He wasn't expecting to get scooped up, but it's a whole lot easier to sit on Henry's arms than it is to stand on his tiny cat tiptoes.]
[He can't help the chuckle, both at the face and at the nymph's hurried self-corrections. One arm unwraps from around Henry's shoulders so that he can hold it out to the side, flipped in a shrug.]
Well, it makes it much easier for you to hold me up like this, doesn't it?
[Henry's leaves shake until Envy shrugs the whole thing off like it's no big deal. He's afraid he'd stepped over some line, made some kind of joke he wasn't supposed to, or somehow made Envy feel less.]
[He almost goes slack with relief but manages not to drop Envy. In fact, he adjusts him so that he's almost sitting as though he were in the boughs of a REAL tree.]
It does. My hands aren't very good for...much. But. You'res are. Soft?
[He didn't mean to end that on a question but he honestly didn't know because he kind of COULDN'T FEEL and isn't sure this is the time to bring that up.]
[Luckily for Henry, Envy just assumes that the question comes from Henry not really knowing what to say, rather than him actually just not being able to tell.]
[This sort of holding feels a lot less awkward than the hug had. It's easier to write off as less being affectionate and just...practical, something that Envy's done plenty of times before in his cat form. And of course he has to hold on around Henry's neck with one arm still, to balance.]
[It's nice, being this close.]
[He holds his free hand up to look it over, flexing his fingers.]
I guess they must be, with the pads.
Even if yours aren't, I like them. [He glances away as he says it, the smallest hint of the pink coming back to his face. But he recovers quicker this time and smirks again, teasing.]
[A doofy grin worked its way onto the treeman's face. He was going to completely lose his reputation for being stoic at this rate.]
[HE LIKED HIS WEIRD TREE HANDS. Henry has been frustrated with them since day one. He hasn't been able to put them into his pockets in like a year and a half.]
[And it is then that Henry's brain decides to do something REALLY DUMB.]
[Envy decides quickly that he very much likes how he's able to make Henry make these goofy faces.]
[Of course, before he can even attempt to get him to make another one, he's being lifted into the air. His wings expand partially, for balance, and the startled look on his face is priceless.]
There...there sure is.
[He unfreezes a little, trying to run with it.]
But can even they do anything. It's especially hard to get a cat down when he likes where he is.
[He's still waving that tree arm before suddenly nearly dropping Envy and catching him again, holding him at eye-level once more. Henry still has that bashful wobbly expression trying to force its way through his usual thoughtful frown.]
[The dropping earns Henry a startled little noise, another dumb wide-eyed expression, and a bit of tail poofing for his viewing pleasure.]
[Although what he says next gets him something arguably better: Envy makes a face that's half wanting to frown and look cool and aloof, with a goofy happy expression trying to fight and worm its way up underneath. His mouth winds up just quirking in an odd half-grin.]
They do, eventually.
[An urge overcomes him. It's the sort of feeling that he's come to recognize as an instinct that he might as well just let happen.]
[He leans forward as though he might go for another kiss, but instead of that, he just bonks his forehead lightly against Henry's. Then he sits back up and looks at some point over on the wall, clearing his throat awkwardly because that sure just happened.]
[Henry is entirely prepared for another kiss assault.]
[Henry is not the least bit prepared for Envy to do The Cat Thing. He's been living with cat people for ages and somehow, that touches him a little more than the smooches did.]
[Naturally he tries to return in-kind, drawing Envy close and bonking his forehead against the manticore's. Unfortunately, Henry's is made of wood. He hears it make contact.]

That is...something you're supposed to do.

I know that much, at least.
...and I could do it again, too.

O-oh yeah?
[He arches his neck back to see if Envy will reach for it.]

You're really small.
[He makes a face.]
I mean--that's good! I mean--in a good way! I mean. Uh.

Besides, they make a good seat.

I think we should call the fire department.
[He lifted Envy up and up and up!]
There's a cat out here stuck in a tree.

[Henry's boughs shake OMINOUSLY. Sort of. Envy's wingtips brush the nearby curtains but that's about it.]

[Gouging your date with razor needles of death is not a good way to keep having that date. But still, he laughs.]
A wind storm might make it tricky for the cat to get down at all.
Hopefully he doesn't blow away.
