"Dammit, hold still, you big CHICKEN."
So the power was out thanks to a certain couple of lines getting snapped thanks to a certain SOMEONE. And there were a few embers glowing on the sofa. But you know what? He could deal. Maurice was working hard by the light of his giant feathery friend's eyes and his own night vision, scraping away ruined feathers from his friend's arm.
"I hope neosporin works on...whatever you are."

A low, whirring noise emanated from the beast-that-was-Heather's throat as she tried not to squirm.
"I'm trying," she growled through a gritted beak.
Behind her, the bottlebrush of wirey hair that was her tail swished back and forth on the couch impatiently, scattering the embers into tiny harmless particles.

[He isn't so sure about this. The people at the nursing home had sent him home with the overgrown toolbox to test it out before they let it loose on any of the old people. Of course Terri had put him on charge of it since it probably couldn't kill him.]
[So here he is with a big weird box in his tiny, tiny trailer home. Good thing Meranda is at work tonight. But UGH WHY TONIGHT. He was so low on blood. He needed to hunt and he had a headache because he didn't even have a chance to go drinking. Regular drinking.]
[WEH]
I guess y'just hit this button here...I hope they didn't send me one of those creepy sex robots by mistake.

[PING.]
[Oh. He's needed, then. Sensors activate, and the little button glows. However, no one has used the codeword to bring him completely online.]
[So, for the moment, the 'big weird box' stays dormant.]
[Just wait until you say "ow" though, Maurice.]

...or you could be broken. That could also be what happens.
[He gets down on his knees to turn the box every which way. It was plugged in right and everything. Giving up out of frustration and withdrawel pain, he sits with his back against the couch.]
Uuuuugh. Oh, my head. Terri, why me?

[EXCUSE YOU. He is not broken.]
[But the box just. Sits there. Silently. At least until Maurice speaks... because there it is. The words he's waiting for.]
[The box opens with a sound like an inflating blimp, as, slowly but surely, the squishy bot emerges, cheerful as ever, despite his mono-expression.]

[He sort of expected it to act like a rhoomba for some reason.]
[He did not, however, expect an emergency life raft with EYES to pop out in his living room. He lets out a holler, as is customary when rednecks encounter strange technology, and all but crawls backwards over the couch arm.]
Woah! Woah, okay. Shit, I gotta tell Terri about that part or they'll have a whole hospital full of heart attacks.

[Well that's weird.]
[No one ever mentioned people might be startled by him. What was the point of Tadashi's "approachable and nonthreatening exterior" if people were scared?]
[Still, apparently undaunted, the programming takes over, and he waves a pudgy hand.]
Hello! I am Baymax, your personal healthcare companion. I heard sounds of distress.
How may I assist you?

[Hello, Baymax. Have you ever been put in charge of a magically reanimated corpse before? Probably not.]
[Maurice quickly gets over his shock as he climbs off the sofa and stands before the marshmallow robot.]
[ITS A FUCKING ROBOT!!!!]
I have a headache but I think I can deal! Did you know that you're a robot?

"I didn't think anything made of fire could get electrocuted, did you?" Now that the area was nothing but a battlefield of feather stumps, Maurice untwisted the cap on the tube. "I have absolutely no idea if this is gonna sting or not."
Yes.
I will scan you now.
[And he holds up a hand. Hold onto your hat, Maurice, you're gonna get looked at by robonurse.]

[Maurice...isn't exactly sure what this scan entails so naturally he's nervous.]
Uh...do I have to sign anything?
Uh...do I have to sign anything?
"M'not made of fire... I just have a high body temperature," Heather grumbled. Because a high body temp could totally account for the way she left soot on everything.
Pinning her ear-tufts, she turned her head aside.
"Just do it."

"Dude, your eyes look like flashlights. You're made of fire. Here goes."
Maurice dabbed some of the ointment on his finger at first. Then he looked between the tiny dab and the rather ugly burns peppering Heather's forearm. Not good enough. Gripping the tube with his fist, he up-ends it like fucking toothpaste all the way down the injury.

<smal<tt><big>No. That is unnecessary. My scanning hardware does not require signing.
[BEEP BOOP here he goes, time to scan the vampire and... see how that ends up reading on his systems.]
[No heartbeat. Abnormally cold body temperature. Obstruction in the chest cavity made of mobile curse threads. None of his signs looked particularly good--plus he had a withdrawal headache.]
[As the silence stretches, Maurice starts feeling naked.]

[what.]
[No. Seriously. What. There is nothing in his database to match any of this. Except the hangover thing -- but that's less important, compared to:]
... You should not be alive.

[What a thing to say, Baymax! Shame on you!]
Uuuuuh, can you just ignore that part? It's...I'm fine!

You lack a pulse, and other functions human bodies need in order to maintain life.
...
I do not understand.

I do not understand.
It's...a condition. Very rare. Don't worry about it.
[DAMMIT TERRI.]
