"This makes me want to go laser tagging." Which he hadn't done in forever.
He could attempt to just play black light tag in the dark, but the maze stopped that thought in it's tracks. Instead he just beams at Maurice to show off his pearly whites and goes to move forward.
"Laser tagging? Y'mean like those nerf things on TV?"
Maurice's mental world did not include a place were you could go pretend to shoot at each other that did not involve expensive paintball equipment. But he would ask about that later because if what he thought was about to happen was about to happen, he would rather wait. He broke into a bashful grin and backed up against one of the padded poles.
"What? No, like. A laser tag place you go to and it's got a room like this with hiding places and you have guns and packs you carry around that shoot like, laser point lights. It's really fun."
Moving with the intent to go to the next section, he pauses, raising an eyebrow. "Are you?" Hanna turns, hands on his hips, and he moves towards Maurice, inspecting him. "What am I going to do?"
"Well I can't see so well, so I don't want to stomp on your toes, getting it to let go!" He takes a few steps closer, reaching out and putting his hands on Maurice's arms.
"Don't worry, your knight in shining T-shirt is here."
He couldn't do it. He couldn't keep from covering his face. They'd been together nearly a year and he still got all flustered. It was a nice kind of flustered though.
Maurice honestly didn't even expect Hanna to try but he wasn't going to stop him. He was going to see where this went. He feigned a faint, his arm dramatically across his brow, and leaned forward.
The vampire found himself slowly leaning closer and closer to the floor. Suddenly his DEVIOUS PLAN to snag a kiss in the dark suddenly rerouted itself to Don't Crush Hanna. He flung his arms out and planted them against the opposite wall, knees bent, up on his toes. The most awkward cicada block ever.
Hanna blinks, suddenly shifted against the wall, and he stares up at Maurice. Huh. He's still taller than him like this. "Good thing it's dark in here or this'd be real awkward."
And now that they are in a compromising position, his face is gaining color. "I feel like the heroine in one of those rom-coms."
Maurice snorted, glad that Hanna wasn't aggravated with him for pulling this stunt.
"Yeah? Well this is new! Usually you're the one makin' me all flustered." Gonna take advantage of Hanna's lack if night vision, up. "You look like the Cheshire cat."
Sounds somewhere in the other room catch his ear and a terrible, awful, wonderful plan starts forming. Because Hanna, dearest Hanna, he still hasn't forgotten the valentines day boobytrap house. Without warning, he pushes off from the wall, sweeps his arms down to grab up Hanna, and tromp into the next room with him.
"Hope you can swim!" It was the only warning Hanna would receive before being thrown into the ball pit. The next room was brightly lit and a short pier sloped down into the ocean of colorful plastic orbs. They were waist deep on a normal person, a pain to wade through. The door to the next room awaited on the other side of the hall.
Hanna, who had been expecting a kiss, yelps in surprise when he's suddenly hoisted up into the air. He had actually almost forgotten the valentines day festivities and any sort of revenge hadn't been considered at all.
When he falls, he sinks, down like a rock into the ball pit. Thankfully, his weight isn't substantial enough for a rough butt-to-bottom, but more a slightly uncomfortable roughing up. It takes a moment, to register, that he's down here in the ballpit, completely submerged before he can try and get up through all the balls. There is a bubbling of sorts as he tries to get up and then suddenly an explosion, emerging from the depths. "How dare you!" He shouts, though the grin on his face kind of negates his tone.
Maurice hesitated just long enough to see Hanna's grin surface from the deep. He'd feel bad if anything happened to his glasses. The dead man crouched on the edge of the pier, hands up, prepared to try and shove him back if he tries to grapple for purchase against it.
Hanna's glasses are a little off center, but thankfully unharmed. they've seen a lot more action than ballpits, thankfully.
He moves forward, grabbing at Maurice's hands instead of the actual pier to get out and tries to pull him in. It's a futile effort though unless Maurice wants to. He doesn't have enough purchase or weight to do much to move him.
With Hanna's fingers twined through his, Maurice has to keep them straight out, least he risk scratching him. Which doesn't give him a very good grip on this little ginger fish.
"Well you still have red hair!" He wobbles, having been balancing on the balls of his feet in his crouch. Maurice tries to lift his arms to see how far he can pull Hanna out of the pit.
"Y'think there's any dropped money at the bottom?"
"There probably is," he laughs, feeling his body give to the lift, the gravity giving every little bit of him a little bit more room to breathe. "And band-aids too."
When the balls hit his hip, he's a little impressed by Maurice's strength. He sometimes forgot just how strong he was, used to him being more gentle to avoid hurting him. Instances like these helped remind him. "Can you lift me all the way out?"
Maurice beamed at the chance to show off. He continued lifting Hanna until his arms were high above his head before swiftly letting go and grabbing hold of him, crooking his arm so that Hanna could sit.
"Ball pits kinda remind me of public pools. Gross if you give them enough thought." He grins as Maurice lifts him higher, making a soft, surprised noise when he's let go for just that second, his stomach dipping until he can feel himself land on Maurice's firm arm.
"For a moment there I thought you were going to drop me again."
"Aw, I aint that mean." He leaned in and gently butted his forehead against Hanna's now that they were eye-to-eye. Maurice leaned to get a better view of the pit before wading down into it. "Oh my god this is impossible to walk in."
"Are you suuuuure?" Hanna, with a subtle glance around to make sure the coast was clear, gave his silly butt a kiss on the cheek before crawling over him, awkwardly situating himself on his shoulders, leaned over his head.
Maurice was swift to recover from the sneak-attack kiss but only to let out a squeak as Hanna started crawling all over him.
"You're a monkey! That's what you are!" Once his boyfriend's pencil legs were firmly thrown over his shoulders, he took hold of them and trudged onward. "Oh, God, what if there's a body in here?"

For real, this was probably the darkest place at the fair and if they were gonna get any privacy, it was going to be in here.
