Ginko gave a burst of laughter as he crouched down to take hold of JW's hand and pull him to his feet - then, on a sudden impulse, pressed a quick kiss on his nose.
JW suddenly didn't mind the twigs jabbing him in the back. Seeing Ginko pull him to his feet so easily was enough to distract him from any damage to his pride he might have suffered. He was strong as he looked. He opened his mouth to comment on just that when Ginko turned the tables on him.
Somehow it didn't occur to him that Ginko might. He didn't seem the crafty type, one bit, and the guy blushed if JW so much as brushed against him. JW's mouth fell open slightly. He had to go and pick the NOSE, the one place he was most self-conscious about. Said nose swiftly started changing colors.
Well, to be fair, Ginko's face was turning redder by the second as well. He gave JW a slightly nervous, lopsided smile and a quiet laugh, lifting his free hand to rub at the back of his neck.
JW shut his mouth and opened it again to say SOMETHING smarmy but started laughing instead. And, of course, then he couldn't stop--much like he'd done at the table long ago. He kept a tight grip on Ginko's hand and tried to cover his face with the other one.
Ginko burst out laughing all over again, still holding onto both JW's hands, but at least showed enough mercy not to kiss him again. His face was bright red, though.
As if suddenly feeling a need to explain, he said, "I wish I could tell you how long I've wanted to do that, but I couldn't actually say for sure myself."
That was probably for the best because there was a good chance JW would have rocketed into the stratosphere. He curled his trapped fingers around Ginko's and leaned forward to gently butt his forehead against his.
JW sighed, though it wasn't a disappointed sigh. "I guess you're right. Can't let that farmer and his family starve. And I can't let you starve. I can't see for shit in this forest, you're going to have to do most of the flower spotting."
He could think of a way to get REVENGE on Ginko for springing such a surprise on him once the garden had been taken care of.
JW did his best as he trailed along behind Ginko, managing to point out a whopping TWO flowers before finally admitting defeat. They were just too little and the spots of sunlight streaming through the trees made picking them out almost impossible.
He behaved himself for the rest of the search--mostly. He still bumped against Ginko's shoulders on purpose when they had to pass one another stepping over logs and through thickets.
"Good, because I don't think I'm gonna be able to find any more of it. I think we've picked this strip of forest clean." He leaned down over a sunny patch and tried to see if there even were flowers. "What do you want for dinner?"
"Any time, any time," he sang, hands in his pockets, feeling a little useless but...he knows it's not his fault. He stretches his neck out to get their bearings before heading back toward the farm. "Well, what do you like? Spicy? Sweet? Any kind of meat you haven't gotten to try?"
JW offered up a lazy shrug. "I'll scrounge somethin' up! I never thought really thought I'd get the chance to show you all the kinds of things we eat in America. Wait'll you try chili."
"Do you just not like pizza?" He figured that could make sense.
"I'm looking forward to it. Seems like you've got some pretty great stuff over there." He gave a thoughtful hum as he stepped over a root. "Wish I could return the favor, but there isn't a whole lot I can do in the way of cooking... maybe I could buy you something in the village."
"I can have pizza any day! I just want it to be special, y'know?" For all his snarking and launching sneak attacks on Ginko throughout the day, he manages to make an earnest face. "You do plenty for me already..."
Ginko started to open his mouth to say something, but instead nothing came to mind and his face just flushed pink. "Ah... right. But I do want to bring you something from here sometime."

"That's not fair!"

As usual, JW's laughter was infectious, and it was taking Ginko some effort not to start up as well.

JW let out a half thrilled half enraged gargling screech but did absolutely nothing to remove his hand.

He set about searching for the plants, pulling up just a few wherever he found a patch of the plants.

"How potent is this stuff anyway?"

You, Ginko. Singular.
