The old woman leaned back in her chair and puffed a laugh. "I did. It wadn' legal but it was good eatin'." She squinted over at Maurice wondering just how much he's told about her. "I trucked for a long, long time before I met Maurice's daddy. I've seen a lot of things, but I aint never seen nobody turn that shade 'a purple before."
She tried to stretch her foot out to push at Maurice's boot but he pulled away from her.
"All depends on whatcha wanna know. I sure aint gone to other worlds and don't know no magic...but I got a vampire for a son. And a magician too, looks like."
